Track n' Trace Systems

TCP has successfully developed, in collaboration with St James’s Hospital Dublin, an IT Serialised Track ‘n Trace system, using GS1 bar codes, to manage the supply chain for haemophilia products (CFC’s) and enable an accurate and efficient product recall process. This system is now recognised as a global first for pharmaceutical Track ‘n Trace from manufacturer to the patient.

The software system used by TCP is a bespoke system designed by TCP and our software partners. The system is designed as an integrated structure having the inventory, storage and distribution sections working together to ensure the accuracy and integrity of the information throughout the whole process.

The Track ‘n Trace system utilises serialised data matrix bar codes which contains not only the batch number of the product, the expiry date of the product, and the product’s unique Global Trade Identification Number (GTIN); but also a unique serial number for each individual vial within the batch. The serialisation of each individual vial allows for each vial to be tracked throughout the supply chain facilitating an accurate and efficient product recall, if required.  This system is now recognised as a global first for pharmaceutical Track ‘n Trace from manufacturer to the patient.
